Coincidence or Not?

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, Chris and I took pictures at a wedding this past Saturday.  As I was editing pictures I noticed something interesting.  I had taken a picture of the groom on the church pew looking right and Chris (at another time) had taken a picture of the bride on the same pew looking left.  The pictures are a nice compliment to each other and weren't planned.  But, they're really not a coincidence either.  It's just another reminder of how Chris and I think alike...makes me smile.

I-Heart-Faces: From a Distance

Chris and I tag-teamed a wedding this past Saturday.  While I was getting some close ups of the bride and groom,  Chris got this one.  When I saw that iheartfaces.com was looking for entries with the theme "From a Distance"  I thought of this one.

Grandparents Day Contest!

Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 12.  In honor of all Grandparents I've decided to have a little contest.  One lucky grandparent will win a FREE photo shoot with all of his/her grandkids!  Plus, this lucky grandparent will also receive a FREE 8x10 group picture of all the grands.  Are you a grandparent who would love to win this?  Do you know a grandparent who would love to win this?  I bet!

Here's how.  Use the link on the right to access my Facebook page.  Find my Grandparents Day post on Facebook and leave a comment with your name (if you are a grandparent) or the name of the grandparent you would like to enter in the contest.  (If you can't leave a comment, it's because you haven't clicked "like" yet.  Once you "like" the page you can comment on posts and pictures.)  Entries must be located within 20 miles of Houlka, MS or be willing to drive to a location within 20 miles of Houlka, MS.  By entering the contest you agree to these terms.  Contest closes on Sept. 11, 2010 at 11:59:59 pm.  Drawing will be held on Grandparents Day and the winner will be announced on my Facebook page.  The winner must schedule a session to take place before Oct. 31, 2010 or he/she will forfeit his/her prize.  The photo session will last one hour and will include group pictures of all of your grandchildren.  Individual and smaller group pictures may be taken if time allows.  Proofs will be burned to DVD for viewing.  No purchase is required but additional pictures may be ordered at regular prices.

Update (9/13/10):  Congratulations to Melinda Simmons.  I can't wait to get pictures of her seven grandchildren!

Your Perfect Senior Pictures

You're only a Senior once and likely you'll only take senior pictures once, so you'll want them to be perfect.  You want them to show more than just your best features.  You want them to show your personality.  We can do that.  First, we'll skip forced poses and artificial settings.  We'll go somewhere you feel comfortable.  Where is up to you.   Are you at home in nature?  Then, pictures by a lake or in a field or in a wooded area would be perfect.  Are you a little edgier?  More urban?  Why not take your pictures in town?  Concrete and brick can be beautiful and old buildings make a perfect backdrop for new styles.  Sometimes your own house is the perfect place.  Where ever you decide, that's where we'll start.

Next, you need to decide what you'll wear.  Think about the setting and think about what looks best on you.  If you aren't sure what to wear talk it over with me.  I'd be happy to help you decide what would look best in the setting you have chosen.

Finally, consider the extras.  Do you play sports?  You can bring you letter jacket, a ball, or a trophy.  Do you love your car (or truck)?  We can use it!  Anything that represents you can be a great addition to you pictures to help further express your personality and interests.  Get creative!

Wildcat Pageant

I recently had a lot of fun taking some pictures of four adorable girls who were entered in a school pageant.  The stormy weather forced us indoors for most of the shoot but we made the best of it with the beautiful windows.

You can see the rest of the pictures on my Facebook page.
